On workdays I get up at 6:30 (ok fine, sometimes 7:15). On weekends, with no alarm set I’ll usually rise and slowly shine around 8am. This past Sunday, I got up at ten. I honestly cannot recall the last time I slept in past nine. At first I thought the clock was wrong.
When I told my friend of the
remarkably lazy unbelievable occurrence, the first question was “and Melvin let you sleep?”. Yes. He always does. Aside from getting on the big bed once sunlight illuminates the room, Melvin will lay next to me without a single nudge, and only an occasional Chewbaca sounding yawn, until I get up.
Luckily for Melvin, I don’t abuse my power very often. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure he’d figure out the meaning of mutiny.
Just like Oscar! He’d be perfectly happy sleeping all day. In fact he stays in bed later than we do! Cooper on the other hand, is an early riser. If we so much as roll over in the early morning hours, he’s up and at ’em.
I have dog sat for dogs that rise at the very first movement and have pulled muscles staying as still as possilble in order to linger in bed longer!
When we were exercising Nola on a regular basis (before her injury) she would stay in bed while I was getting ready for work in the morning. Most of the time I would have to coax her out of bed at 8:15 am with a treat so she would go potty before I left for the day! The past week she has been up and ready to go at 6:30-7:00am. It really shows me how much exercise affects her! I can’t wait until we can start walking again!
Poor her AND you! The no walking part is such a bummer, for her energy level but also, walks are just such awesome bonding time. Heal fast Nola!! Melvin sends kisses!
Turk and Rufus totally let us sleep in. It’s one of my favorite things about them!
They can visit ANYTIME!
Boomer and Dottie don’t let the hubby and I sleep in past 7 am… they start demanding their food and want to go outside.
BTW that’s a super cute pic of Melvin!
7am is early! I guess it could be worse, like 5!
